Buñuel NYC Takeover

Stephen Sondheim's final musical production, "Here We Are", inspired by two Buñuel films, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and The Exterminating Angel, will have its world premiere in New York at The Shed in September of 2023 (previews start on September 28th with official opening night on October 22, 2023).

On this occasion NYU KJCC, NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and the Luis Buñuel Film Institute have partnered in a series of events called “Buñuel NYC Takeover” to celebrate the life and pioneering vision of these two icons.

The first round of events will take place in September, 2023, with a series of screenings and a public event.

The Films of Luis Buñuel: Robert McKee in conversation with Joe Vinciguerra

Robert McKee will discuss the enduring relevance of the films of Luis Buñuel. He will focus on the two films from the new Sondheim musical Here We Are: The Exterminating Angel and The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoise.
