Join us for an exciting event about migration, archives, and mutual aid!
In the auditorium, Sibylle Fischer, Ellen Noonan, and Bárbara Pérez Curiel from NYU’s Migrant Records Lab will lead a discussion on finding and deciphering im/migration records, and how to use them to help im/migrant communities reclaim their histories. Professor Ángeles Donoso Macaya from CUNY and Marco Saavedra and Natalia Méndez from the South-Bronx restaurant and mutual aid kitchen La Morada will introduce their project, “Archives in Common: Migrant Practices/ Knowledges/Memory,” part of the Mellon Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research (The Graduate Center/CUNY).
On the Patio, Marco Saavedra and Natalia Méndez will guide a conversation about their mission as a mutual aid kitchen, all while giving the community a taste of their home-made Oaxacan specialties.
Fridays on the Patio started in Fall 2021 as a space for community, conversation and food to share and enjoy. The programs are student-centered, but open to all.
