Yusef Komunyakaa (Bogalusa, Louisiana) is one of the most important living poets from United States. His vast work include poetry books such as Dien Cai Dau, I Apologize for the Eyes in My Head, Neon Vernacular, Talking Dirty to the Gods, Taboo and The Chamaleon Couch. He is also author of the plays Wakonda’s Dream, Saturnalia and Gilgamesh: A Verse Play. His literary work has won numerous awards, like the Poetry Center Book Award, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Prize, the Wallace Stevens Prize and the Pulitzer Prize.
