Fridays on the Patio

Spring 2024 Fridays on the Patio program

The event “Fridays on the Patio” was launched in Fall of 2021. This student-run program brings students to the KJCC’s tranquil courtyard to socialize over activities and snacks.

It works to connect NYU students and faculty and invite them into the Center for cultural discussions and community building on select Fridays from 3 pm to 5 pm.

We aim to provide a diverse array of programming so that all community members feel welcome and celebrated. More than anything, this event series focuses on elevating the quality of life and creating enjoyable experiences.

Devon, an NYU undergraduate, said: “Fridays on the Patio have been a place for me to relax every week, connect with my classmates outside of class, and meet graduate students that I otherwise would not have met. I have loved having a place to talk about my Spanish and Portuguese major and express my passions outside of a classroom context. Having this cultural space has made my interests even stronger and introduced me to friends I will have throughout my college career. The KJCC has given other Spanish/Latinx and heritage students and me a place that is open to all but that we find each other in.”

The program is co-sponsored by KJCC, CLACS, CEMS, and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
